My wife came to me with a very special and very personal project - to create a documentary film about our nephew Charles, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Fish Out of Water is the story of a special bond between Charles and his dad, and the perseverance of two physicians to do anything and everything to help their son, even if that meant moving to a ranch and starting a farm-based learning center for children with autism. My wife and I wrote, shot, edited and produced this very personal story. And managed to stay married in the process. It was even featured in the San Diego Film Festival.
